The focal point of the
living area is a skylight and
entertainment center that
replaced a chimney and a
fireplace. In the process, the
use of firewood — considered
a vanishing resource — and
toxic carbon monoxide were
eliminated with the fireplace,
seldom used in a temperate
climate. The living area is
open to both dining room (not
pictured) and kitchen. Bamboo
floors replaced carpets and tile
throughout the home. Strata
Board doors, fabricated by
Bill Christopher of ILM Design
Build, replaced bedroom and
bathroom hollow core doors.
