CHEERS FOR A CURE
About 150 community members,
family and friends attended the
“Cheers For a Cure” fundraiser in honor
of Jay Miller on April 19 at the Palm
Room in Wrightsville Beach. The event
raised almost $5,000 to benefit the
“Circle of Friends” walking team in the
Wilmington Walk to Defeat ALS on
April 20. The team raised more than
$8,000 in all this year to support the
ALS Association.
LANDFALL
FOUNDATION GALA
On April 20, the Landfall
Foundation wined and dined 300
guests during their 17th annual Gala
at the Landfall Country Club. The
theme was The Phantom of
the Opera to celebrate the 25th
anniversary of the Broadway play,
and music was provided by
Mike Worley, a DJ from Edge
Entertainment. More than $250,000
was raised to support charities in
Brunswick, New Hanover, and
Pender counties — each charity will
receive a $6,000 grant. Last year,
the Landfall Foundation supported
66 charitable organizations, such
as Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity
and Domestic Violence Shelter and
Services, Inc.
