The Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and
Jazz festival welcomes Jimmie Vaughan,
“The Pleasure’s All Mine”
The 18th annual Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz festival will take
place Oct. 8-9. Headlining this year’s festival will be blues guitarist
extraordinaire Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-a-Whirl Band featuring
Lou Ann Barton.
Hear the man that Buddy Guy proclaimed “is unbeatable when it
comes to the blues” and impressed Eric Clapton with “the raw power of his sound.”
His latest album, “Jimmie Vaughan Plays Blues, Ballads & Favorites” was Grammy
nominated for the Best Traditional Blues Album. With four Grammys in his possession,
Vaughan’s performance is certain to impress.
“The festival overall will feature some of the best guitar players and some of the best
acts around,” says Greg Reynolds, assistant director of the Pleasure Island Chamber of
Commerce. “If you like guitar playing this will be the place to be.”
In addition to Vaughan, event organizers have pieced together a musical host of
regional and national acts. Blues musicians Anson Funderburgh, Scott Cable and Friends
will take the stage along with Lawyers, Guns and Money Sunday evening. For those who
want to jazz up the weekend, El Jaye and the Port City All Stars will perform Saturday evening
and Freeport will play Sunday afternoon.
Outstanding seafood is cooked throughout the weekend in every fathomable way.
Plan to eat on the grounds. —Tyler Roberts
