FOR Masonboro’s fundraiser
will be held on Sunday,
October 28, from 4 to 8 p.m.
at the Blockade Runner
Beach Resort. Proceeds from the event
are donated to the North Carolina Coastal
Reserve (NCCR) for education, steward-ship
and research activities on Masonboro
Island. As the largest component of the
NCCR, Masonboro Island is an essentially
pristine barrier island where sea turtles
nest on the beach and sea beach amaranth
plants grow on the dunes. This year’s event
will feature live entertainment, silent and
live auctions, and all new kids’ activities.
Children will have the chance to touch
sea creatures brought to the island by
the North Carolina Aquarium. Delicious
seafood will be in abundance that day as
guests get to enjoy the peaceful coastal
scenery. All proceeds from the event will
go toward Masonboro Island research and
education. Tickets are $25 and can be pur-chased
at www.formasonboroisland.org.
