On November 23, guests of
the North Carolina Holiday Flotilla
Anchors Away Launch Party
mingled and bid on silent auction
items in the lobby of the Blockade
Runner Beach Resort. When 8 p.m.
rolled around, the funky jams of
musical guest Brickhouse lifted
guests out of their seats and onto
the dance floor in the ballroom.
The party launched the 29th
annual flotilla, traditionally held
during Thanksgiving weekend in
Wrightsville Beach.
FUR BALL
The seventh annual Wilmington
Fur Ball brought more than 250
people to the Country Club of
Landfall on December 1 to help
raise money for two local no-kill
shelters. The proceeds raised from
the black tie and red carpet gala
benefit Adopt an Angel and the
Pender County Humane Society.
During the past six years, $91,500
has been distributed to the shelters.
