JDRF HOPE GALA
The Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation hosted its annual Hope
Gala on Monday, May 18 at the
Wilmington Convention Center.
This year’s theme was “Unmask a
Cure: A Venetian Masquerade.”
With more than 400 people in
attendance, the event raised more
than $474,000 which will benefit
JDRF’s Type 1 diabetes research.
This year’s funds will benefit the
Artificial Pancreas Project and
Encapsulated Cell Therapy.

CENTER FOOTPRINTS
IN THE SAND SPRING
CELEBRATION
The Good Shepherd Center held
its Footprints in the Sand Spring
Celebration on May 19 at the
Blockade Runner Beach Resort.
The event, commemorating the
Good Shepherd Center’s 30th
anniversary, raised more than
$14,000 in support of continued
operations of the center’s programs.
With entertainment provided by
local surf garage band The Carvers,
the event’s proceeds will fund
programs for the community’s
hungry and homeless.
