Fido a bit under the weather?
Does Rex need a bath after
that roll through the mud?
Look no further than Atlantic
Animal Hospital and Pet Care Resort,
1808 Sir Tyler Drive (Across from the
main entrance of Mayfaire). As the
sole women-owned veterinary clinic
in the county, the staff is dedicated
to providing every pet — and their
owner — with the highest level of
personalized care in a state-of-the-art
facility.
Co-owners Dr. Michele Rohrer
and Dr. Laurie Parish are both
graduates of the North Carolina
State University College of Veterinary
Medicine. Dr. Rohrer has been with
Atlantic Animal Hospital since 2004.
She joined the hospital after spending
several years in both private practice
and emergency medicine. Dr. Rohrer
is a native North Carolinian, raised
in nearby New Bern, and was thrilled
to be able to practice and live in
Wilmington.
Dr. Parish grew up in Wilmington.
After brief stints in California
and Chicago, she decided to return
home to North Carolina to pursue
her passion for animals. She joined
Atlantic Animal Hospital after graduating
vet school in 2006. Along
with Dr. Rohrer and Dr. Parish,
there are two Associate Veterinarians
who share their love of animals.
Dr. Karessa Schaffer, who has been
with the practice since 2006, hails from Iowa. Dr. Kara Duffy
recently joined the practice. She is a native of New Jersey, but
practiced in Southern California for several years.
With a friendly, knowledgeable staff of 32, the veterinary
hospital’s philosophy is to treat every pet as if it were their
own. For more than 20 years, this full-service veterinary medical
facility has provided medical, surgical and dental services
as well as related veterinary services including doggie daycare,
boarding, bathing and grooming for both dogs and cats.
Committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative
health care and health-related educational opportunities,
the facility also has an on-site nonprofit animal rescue
group, Coastal Animal Rescue Effort, and is actively involved
in community events such as Monty’s Home Expo, Paw Jam
and Bark for Life.
The hospital’s hours are Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call
