who moved to Wilmington with her
husband, Tom, in 1977. She began scuba diving lo-cally
in 1985, and she earned her divemaster certi-fication
eight years later. She became interested in
underwater photography some 20 years ago and
has logged approximately 3,000 dives in locations all

A Scotland County, North Carolina, native, Hannah
Wethington moved to Wilmington to attend Cape
Fear Community College and, after graduation,
loved the Port City so much she decided to make
it her home. She has worked for WBM for almost a
year and is grateful for the experience of working
with such a wonderful staff. She doesn’t know quite
yet what the future has in store for her, but she has
an ambition to pursue a career in clinical laboratory
science. When she’s not working, Hannah loves a
good tennis match, playing with her dog and en-joying
the care-free beach life the Cape Fear Coast
has to offer.

experiences. Before moving to North Carolina in
2006, Sandra was a special education teacher and
was the Washington, D.C. correspondent for Cha-risma
and Christian Life Magazine, covering news
stories and features in our nation’s capital. Sandra is
a frequent contributing writer for Wrightsville Beach
Magazine. In her free time, she enjoys photography,
tennis and golf.
Jamie Walker
Writer, A Time & Place For Family — Page 39
Jamie Walker, born and reared in Kentucky, was
given the gift of Wrightsville Beach summers at a
young age. Enchanted by the Wilmington lifestyle,
by WB at sunrise and by suppers at sunset on the
porch of her grandparents’ sound-side cottage,
she vowed to return permanently and finally did
in 1998. She received a BA in Anthropology at
UNCW and, after traveling out West and abroad,
she returned home in 2003. She started her own
gardening business, The Pocket Gardener, which
she owned, operated and loved for six years. Jamie
now lives on the Northeast Cape Fear River with her
husband, her four-year-old daughter and her two-year-
old twins.
