HOPE FROM HELEN SURF
SILENT AUCTION
December 6, 2013
Blockade Runner Beach Resort
Hope from Helen is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
charity that supports local and global
organizations dedicated to health,
education, animal welfare, the environment,
and individuals and families in need. It all
started in 2005 when Helen Butler, mother
of Tony Butler, was diagnosed with Stage 3
lung cancer and then breast cancer. Helen
had no health insurance to pay for looming
hospital bills for chemotherapy, radiation
treatments and doctors’ visits. So the local
surfing community joined together to help
the Butlers raise funds for Helen’s medical
treatments with yard sales, restaurant
proceeds, band fundraisers, individual
donations, and the first annual Hope for
Helen Surf Silent Auction. The 9th Annual
Hope From Helen Surf Silent Auction takes
place Friday, December 6, from 6:30-9:30
p.m. at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort on
Wrightsville Beach. Admission is free. Contact
