JDRF Hope Gala
May 14 | Holiday Inn Resort, Wrightsville
Beach
The eighth annual Hope Gala for the Wilmington
office of the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation is a black-tie event that supports
research for finding a cure for diabetes and
its complications. Raising $320,000 last year,
this year, JDRF will be honoring grandmothers
of children with Type 1 diabetes. This year’s
theme, Past, Present and Future, illustrates
that grandmothers are representatives of our
past, very often connected to the present by
providing care and support, and part of the
future for their passion to find a cure for loved
ones impacted by Type 1 diabetes. Hundreds
of guests are expected to attend the elegant
evening featuring gourmet dining, music and
dancing. Lee Ducat, one of the original founders
of JDRF, is the guest speaker. The evening begins
at 6 p.m. For more information, call (910) 509-
9899 or visit www.jdrfhopegala.org.
