NONPROFIT UNEARTHS OLD WILMINGTON
ANYONE LOOKING for a taste of history can
easily be lured into one of the several tours in
downtown Wilmington. Advertisements for man-sion
tours and walking tours, even ghost hunts,
abound. No ads exist for the hands-on opportunity
Jon Schleier offers. But all tourists and locals alike
have to do is walk down the right street at the right
time and be willing to get their hands a little dirty.
Schleier is the executive director of the Public
Archaeology Corps, a Wilmington-based nonprofit
founded in 2013 with the goal of helping people
discover the history in their backyards.
