Today, Cedar Creek Gallery,
surrounded by its enclave of
studios and vernacular tobacco
barns, continues to thrive in
nearby Granville County.
clouds to the flint metal roof of the
gallery building, where the curl of
smoke rises from the brick chimney,
sending the unmistakable scent of
wood fire into the air.
With deep red Nandina berries
still drooling from winter’s canes,
early blooming shrubs line the walk
to the gallery entrance. Mingled
with quince and hyacinths’ bouquet,
these anxious upstarts poke their pale

Forty-five years ago, this acreage
was no more than untilled farm-land.
It’s where Sid and Pat Oakley
planted their pottery studio in 1968

Buy pets leashes and collars made of natural
materials. Most are made of nylon. Nitrous
oxide, a greenhouse gas associated with global warming, is emitted
during the production of nylon. Replacing all of the nylon pet leashes
in the United States would prevent the release of the same amount of
greenhouse gasses produced by 250,000 households per year!
