Clockwise from top: A transportation journal from 1884 announced
passenger launches for the 30-foot Elco, with the slogan: “At 10 cents
a head there’s money in it.” Elco supplied 36-foot electric launches
for the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893. Elco’s fleet over the
years has included a 32-foot Cruisette. Elco launches were designed
to accommodate many passengers for touring. Rides in Elco launches
at the World’s Columbian Exposition brought in more than $300,000
at 25 cents per ticket.
