Literacy Luncheon

Readers’ Theatre will perform at the annual Literacy Luncheon
held at the Pine Valley United Methodist Church. All of the money
raised supports the group’s mission to provide individualized
literacy services so that adults and their families in the Cape Fear

Wrightsville Beach Museum Shrimperoo

The Wrightsville Beach Museum of History will hold an event that
contains the freshest boiled shrimp with the friendliest crowd.
Visit with beach friends and eat from the bountiful feast of shrimp
with all the trimmings and beverages, accompanied by live music
at Lumina Hall, 212 Old Causeway Drive. Tickets will be available

Bellamy Mansion Tea

The Bellamy Mansion continues its high tea tradition throughout
the seasons. Finger sandwiches and sweets will be served.
Featured performers will entertain. Proceeds benefit ongoing
operations of the Bellamy Mansion. The cost is $35 and includes
admission to the Tim Buchman architectural photography exhibit
and 10 percent off at the gift shop. Bellamy Mansion Teas begin at
2 p.m. Two more are planned for September 17 and December 17.

Run for the Red
June 23
The Run for the Red 5k/10k at Mayfaire Town Center benefits the
vital programs and services provided by the American Red Cross
in the Cape Fear community. A post-race event features live music,
raffle, awards ceremony and full barbeque-style lunch. All racers
receive a free lunch plate with entry; additional plates for families
and guests can be purchased for $7 each. Entry fee is $25-30.

Wilmington’s Epicurean Evening to
Benefit the Methodist Home for Children
August 30
For the sixth consecutive year, this grand, black-tie gala will
feature food tastings from local chefs and restaurants, as well as
live and silent auction packages. Culinary awards will be given
to participants for best food in different categories. The highest
award, the Copper Kettle, is given to the best of the best to proudly
be displayed in the winning restaurant for a year. Proceeds from
the event will help fund the Methodist Home for Children’s
programs for Wilmington children and families in need. Held in
the Wilmington Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, tables of
10 are available for $1,250 and may be purchased in advance by
