artist and Realtor Martha Williams, over
American cherry floors. Williams’ artwork
hangs alongside Claude Howell prints.
An elongated Arts and Crafts Style
window seat is an upstairs transitional
area that welcomes warm east light all
times of year. Oakey Mertz’s office is on
this level, as is the couple’s master suite
furnished with a second fireplace and an
adjoining second level covered porch.
Oakey’s career carried the couple
from the East Coast to the West
— notably San Diego, with forays into
Santa Fe. The Mertzes are now settled
in Mary’s hometown, Wilmington,
where these dog lovers, avid tennis
players and golfers have found a permanent
address.
