Wilmington
Fur Ball
The 6th annual Wilmington Fur
Ball, a black tie red carpet event
that raises money for two local
no-kill animal shelters—Adopt an
Angel and Pender County Humane
Society—was held at the Cape
Fear Country Club on December 3.
Guests danced to The 360 Degrees
band, enjoyed lavish hors d’oeuvres
and bid on auction items includ-ing
three original works donated
by world-renowned artist George
Pocheptsov. Very special guests
were puppies and kittens that
briefly attended the ball to snuggle
and remind the patrons what their
generous donations support.
Harbor Island
Garden Club 60th
Anniversary
The Harbor Island Garden Club
celebrated its 60th anniversary on
Friday, December 9, at the Surf
Club. With musical entertainment
performed by the Central Park Band,
garden club members and guests
gathered to celebrate the milestone
for the club and to raise awareness
for the interactive water feature the
club plans to build in Harbor Way
Gardens in late spring. The club also
sold bricks and pavers to support-ers
of the fountain to help fund the
project, along with copies of its new
cookbook.
