Hope from Helen
Now a staple on the calendar of
events for Wrightsville Beach, the
annual Hope from Helen Surf Silent
Auction drew a packed house to
the Blockade Runner Beach Resort
on December 2 for the 7th annual
running of the event. With free
admission, catering by Tower 7
and a plethora of fantastic items
being raffled and auctioned off, the
event was a huge success again
this year. In the past six years, Hope
from Helen has donated more than
$325,000 to various nonprofit charities,
and this year’s event tacked on
over $36,000 to that total.
WIHN Gala
Every year for the last six years,
supporters of the Wilmington
Interfaith Hospitality Network have
gathered on the Friday before
Thanksgiving for the organization’s
annual Gala. This year a large crowd
was in attendance at the Country
Club of Landfall to enjoy performances
from magicians and the
Wilmington Celebration Choir. All
of the $38,000 in net funds raised
will support WIHN’s emergency and
transitional assistance to homeless
families with children.
