Post Session Podcast Makes a Splash
Bringing surfing’s heroes into the spotlight
THE Post Session Podcast
has become a favorite
among local surfers, one
that is best paired with
a cup of coffee and/or breakfast
burrito. Hosted by Wrightsville
Beach surfing enthusiasts Ashley
Chapman and Laurel Senick, the
podcast covers a variety of topics,
from the prevalence of Christianity
among surfers to the impact that
learning to surf has on those dealing
with autism.
“The whole thing started over our
mutual love for microphones, coffee
and ocean adventure,” Chapman says.
“Once we started writing episodes,
we quickly realized that we truly love
sharing our experiences with others
and inviting insightful guests on the
show to do the same.”
One episode that has gained
traction is Curvy Surfer Girl, in
which a former defense lobbyist
discusses her motivations for starting
a movement challenging the images
and representations of women put
forth by the surf industry.
Chapman and Senick’s interview
with John Pike from Surfers Healing
is also worth a listen.
Surfers Healing is focused on
exposing children with autism
to the calming and therapeutic
world of surfing. Pike founded
the Wilmington chapter after his
child was diagnosed at the age
of 2. With a crew of dedicated,
competent and compassionate
volunteers, the charity’s services
are always free for participants.
