The Carolina Cup is one of the world’s largest stand up paddleboard events, featured races, clinics, expos, and entertainment, with
530 athletes attending from 18 countries. In this aerial photo, racers battle though Mason Inlet between Figure Eight Island and
the uninhabited north end of Wrightsville Beach during the grueling 13-mile ocean and flatwater Elite Graveyard race for elite and
professional paddleboard racers. The men’s overall Elite winner was Michael Booth of Australia with a time of 2:03:01, from Germany
the Women’s winner was Sonni Honscheid with a time of 2:22:15. — Pat Bradford
