Into the Water
Four Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Squad hopefuls head into the ocean for the victim rescue test
at tryouts on May 5 near Crystal Pier. Ocean Rescue Director Dave Baker says a total of 70 candidates
attended the tryout sessions on April 29 and May 5, vying for one of the coveted 28 full-time positions
for the 2018 summer season. Lifeguards are on duty at the 13 stands along the beach strand from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
