Late Summer
at the Beach
Swimmers and surfers enjoy a perfect day at
Wrightsville Beach in early September, just before
Hurricane Florence roared ashore. High levels of
bacteria in the water after the storm forced officials
to post swimming advisories, but they were lifted
by the end of the month, allowing residents and
visitors to return to the sea and take advantage of
the warm weather in early October.
