Robert Rehder and his son, Kyle,
duck hunting together in 2009.
Great Memories
Thanks Robert Rehder for
more wonderful stories that bring
back so many memories “Wild
Ideas,” Oct. 2019…
My only wish is that my father
could be here to read those stories
with me.
He never was a hunter, but every
year at Thanksgiving we would go
down to the Rocks to shoot ducks.
He would take a light rod and reel
with some trout lures, and I’d shoot
at the ducks. He’d snag the ones I
killed and bring them in.
We would sit under a gray colored
tarp for camo and keep us warm.
He’d take me dove hunting all
over the place. He never hit any-thing,
our last hunting trip in which he
had a brand new dove stool to
sit on. His knees were bad, so he
stayed seated to shoot. I heard him
shoot, and looked over to see him
flat on his back in the corn field…
that was our last trip hunting.
I could smell the flowers as well
in your flower shop just from mem-ory.
go to Castle Hayne and look at the
fields of flowers, especially tulips.
Hope to read some snake hunt-ing
stories soon.
