LA COSTA MEXICAN RESTAURANT (5622 Oleander Drive 910-392-6006) appropriately translated “the coast ” provides a perfect spot for Mexican cuisine in the Port City. As soon as you walk through the door youre met with the sounds of traditional Mexican Mariachi music and if that doesnt put you in a good mood the aroma of fresh chips and salsa will. “La Costa has a casual fun atmosphere that our customers really enjoy ” says restaurant manager Helena Guzman “and La Costa offers you more bang for your buck than most restaurants around town.” With weekly specials large portions and extra low prices she just might be right. Fajita Fridays inspired by La Costas popular steak chicken shrimp roast pork and tilapia fajitas lets you order the fajitas of your choice for only $6.95. Just make sure you get there between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
For $6.25 you can choose from an assortment of enchiladas Enchiladas Suizas Mole Enchiladas Enchiladas a la crema Enchiladas Espinacas and Enchiladas Rancheras all served with rice and beans.
Borrego is marinated lamb shank baked slowly until tender. The Borrego is then served with marinade guacamole pico de gallo and corn or flour tortillas. ($13.25)
The Veggie Burrito (among other great vegetarian dishes) is a flour tortilla stuffed with rice beans and fresh vegetables. The burrito is then topped with green sauce and Monterey Jack cheese and served with rice and beans. ($8.50)
Youve been warned! Anything on the menu that comes cooked in La Costas Chile chipotle sauce will make your tongue sizzle.
