There are two things you can always count on at Atlanta Bread in Mayfaire Town Center (910-509-2844) — the calming lilt of classical music and the smell of something yummy baking. “The core strength of our business is that all the pastries and breads are baked fresh daily ” says co-owner Jon Bibb. He and partner Andy Chatellier opened the Atlanta Bread franchise five years ago after the financial support of their families allowed them to pursue a dream they shared as college roommates. Originally from Charleston South Carolina they chose Wilmington for its similar charm and proximity to home. The restaurant’s menu is a medley of hot and cold deli sandwiches grilled Panini sandwiches salads soups and chili. Bagels gourmet coffee (hot and iced) and smoothies add to the menu and make for perfect on-the-go snacks. Catering is available to parties of 10 or more. The Chicken Waldorf salad is always in demand. This compilation of chicken salad dried cranberries Granny Smith apples and toasted walnuts with tomato onion and lettuce is served on Asiago Focaccia bread. ($6.49)
