Hannah and Scott

Within the first few weeks of their freshman year at UNCW Hannah Maria Woodward met Scott Christian Bodemann through mutual friends. They soon began dating and six and a half years later Hannah and Scott went on a vacation to St. Martin where Scott proposed while the couple sat on a rock overlooking the ocean.

The weather was perfect for their May wedding which was held outside the pergola at Airlie Gardens. Friends and family came from out of town to join Hannah and Scott in the celebration. The reception at Blue Water — An American Grill was special for the couple because it was also the location of their first date. The day after the wedding the couple hosted a get-together at their home for family friends and guests still in town.

Hannah and Scott honeymooned in Anguilla where they enjoyed walks on the beach horseback riding and snorkeling. The couple lives in Raleigh where Hannah works for Merrill Lynch and Scott works for South-Tek Systems.

Lee Ann and William

Lee Ann Adams met William Bryan Fuller Jr. (and William’s ex-girlfriend) at a party when she first moved to Wilmington three years ago. Ironically Lee Ann became good friends with the ex-girlfriend. She became friends with William too of course but it wasn’t until a year or so later that Lee Ann and William began dating. They dated for a year and then a few days after Halloween with the bowl of candy still hanging around the house the couple decided to go to the movies. Before leaving William told Lee Ann to grab some candy from the bowl and when she did … there she discovered her engagement ring.

Their elegant black and white wedding was decorated with candles and flowers that created a wonderful ambience. The Carolina Yacht Club was the perfect location for the ceremony because the couple spent many days and nights there while they were dating.

Their honeymoon in South Africa was a nature lover’s fairy tale. According to Lee Ann it was “rustically opulent.” When they checked in at the Mala Mala Private Game Reserve in Cape Town and walked out on the veranda a herd of elephants greeted them. Lee Ann said it was “definitely the most special and unique travel experience of my life.”

Lee Ann is currently taking classes at UNCW and William works for Atlantic Brokerage commercial real estate which he co-owns with his father.

Elizabeth and Wylie

Elizabeth Daile Partin and Wylie Beckman Smith III both attended UNCW and Elizabeth’s parents owned a house on the same street as Wylie lived but it took mutual friends to finally introduce the two. Later on a warm October day Wylie took Elizabeth out on her father’s boat. They anchored in Banks Channel and Wylie got down on one knee … in the boat … and proposed. Later that night they celebrated with family and friends at Boca Bay Restaurant the location of their first date.

Approximately 275 guests attended their tropical beach-themed wedding which was held at Airlie Gardens. Elizabeth and Wylie surprised everyone at their reception with a choreographed dance to I Need You by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.

The newlyweds honeymooned on Canouan one of the Grenadines Islands belonging to St. Vincent and Barbados where they went scuba diving and fishing and were pampered and spoiled with spa treatments.

Elizabeth and Wylie live in Wilmington where Elizabeth works as associate director for Cape Fear Commercial and Wylie is a mortgage broker for Archer Mortgage.

Heather and Dennis

Music has a way of bringing people together. Heather Margie Peck a native of Wilmington was living in Raleigh while her future husband Dennis Wendall Pike III was living in Chapel Hill. Each unaware of the other they both traveled from the Triangle to Wilmington to see a mutual friend’s band play at Reggie’s.

A year and a half later Dennis met Heather at the door of his house … and blindfolded her. She was completely surprised as he led her into a room filled with candles flowers champagne and strawberries. He took off the blindfold got down on one knee and proposed.

The wedding was held at Grace United Methodist Church where Heather grew up worshipping. The letter “P’” adorned the napkins programs and candle favors and was even their cake topper — both of their last names of course begin with “P.” An old-fashioned horse and carriage decorated with flowers drove the couple away from the reception with a sign that read: Just Hitched.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Brazil visiting Rio de Janeiro Iguazu Falls and a small beach town on the equator called Jericoacoara.

Heather and Dennis live in Carrboro where she teaches dance and he is a computer engineer.

Ginny and Greig

ove at first sight really happens … and Ginny Broadfoot Lee and Greig Leonard Mare are an amazing true-life example. On Memorial Weekend at a very crowded Lake Lanier Ginny and Greig locked eyes. They spent the rest of the weekend together and one year later Greig asked Ginny to marry him.

Their beach-themed wedding was decorated with ivory-white and coral colors and their cake was adorned with chocolate seashells. As guests arrived on the beach via trolley a valet checked their shoes. At the reception everyone wrote messages to the couple and placed them in bottles.

Ginny and Greig’s honeymoon at the exclusive Las Ventanas in Cabo San Lucas Mexico was fun fantastic and as exclusive as advertised: The newlyweds were wined and dined by private butlers.

The couple lives in Atlanta Georgia where Ginny works for a commercial real estate agency and Greig is a general manager for Atlanta Bread Company.
