My Thoughts
Welcome New Year as winter gets fully underway on the North Carolina coast
BY Pat Bradford
We have thoughtfully crafted stories to make you laugh, cry, and count your blessings.
Right out of the gate, in keeping with our desire to honor those in the community while they are with us, we have the story of real estate developer/builder Dallas Harris, now in his 80s. For five decades Harris put his mark on condominium projects, neighborhoods and yachts in communities at Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington, throughout New Hanover and Pender counties. As a builder/developer and a self-taught yachtsman, his stories are those of a larger-than-life legend.
Our home feature is a perfect pairing, that of Dr. Kamran and Tonia Goudarzi’s extensive renovation at Seapath Estates, a Dallas Harris creation with a yacht basin at its center.
Both are essentially love stories, Kamran and Tonia’s for each other, their home, and their neighborhood, and Harris’s love of creating neighborhoods like theirs and of adventure.
There’s a buzz about what’s slated to happen with the three fixed bridges onto and off Wrightsville from Harbor Island. We bring you that story complete with the potential demolition and taking of 20 condo units on one side of Banks Channel and two on the other, as well as the location of a long-time business.
Former television journalist Casey Roman updates us on her life’s hard reset, which is a wonderful New Year’s story of making lemonade from lemons.
For those struggling with the turn of the New Year, we offer an insightful look by Dr. LeAnne Suarez to aid your vision going forward.
We have the first in a series on inspiring philanthropic personalities, this one possessing a title, Lady Leslie Ridley-Tree.
For our health-conscious readers there is a comparison between juicing and blending.
Enjoy and be blessed.
