The beach strand and Johnnie Mercer’s Pier,
shot the day after New Hanover County closed
access to beaches, playgrounds, and other public
places, March 20. The countywide restrictions
were issued to supplement Gov. Roy Cooper’s
initial statewide order to stay at home for 30 days,
was intended to enforce social distancing and
help slow the spread of COVID-19.
