2015-4

letters to the editor Traveling Textiles I would like to thank you for your interest in my work. Over the years it has been a journey which I have been blessed to travel. It was such a privilege to have two of the quilts in the NCQS (North Carolina Quilt Symposium) show at Wilmington this past spring — so close to home. Two of the other quilts were in the NCQS show at Winston- Salem several years ago. The article you wrote (“Thread Count, A Stitch in Time,” by Marimar McNaughton, February 2015) was the first time my North Carolina quilts had been showcased together. — Mary Wirchansky Metalica My thanks go out to Pat, Amy, Joshua, and everyone else responsible for putting together such a wonderful story (“Heavy Metal,” by Amy Kilgore Mangus, March 2015). The writing, the design, the layout, the photog-raphy, is all just more than I ever imagined! I especially liked the showing of the rough sketches of work that was taped on the walls in my studio and then illustrating the fin-ished sculpture, “Dalton’s Catch,” on the facing page. Very Cool!  — Paul Hill Paul Hill’s sketch for the sculpture “Southern Hospitality.” Much Ado about Nick We overcorrected the spelling of Nick Battiste’s name on page 12 (“What About the Bard, Springing into Shakespeare,” by Pam Creech, March 2015) giving credit for his direct quotes to Dram Tree Shakespeare’s board member Nick Basta. Upon our apology, Mr. Battiste graciously replied: “No worries. I’ve never met him but I get confused with him on a regular basis. The last name is bad enough but we’re both Nicks!” Tsk, tsk tile In the final editing process we misidentified what was later described “as the world’s most expensive tile” for wallpaper on page 81 (“Perfect Powder Rooms, Flirting with Design,” by Jennifer Kastner Lackey, March 2015). We would love to hear from you!
